Translation of the 19th Amendment, created in celebration of the 100th anniversary of its passing and ratification. The text is translated into a visual representation of ASCii code, and cut out with a laser cutter. The absent, vacant spaces of the text is reflective the absence of women of color as participants in the fight for voting right. Not meaning they did not participate, they abosolutely did. Rather, they were excluded in the minds of many white leaders at the time of its passing, many southern states did not ratify the amendment, and in the telling of suffragist history these very present women of color are often omitted. This document is 100 sq inches larger than the original.
